Traveling in a RV is an economic method of seeing the country. Unfortunately, staying cool in a RV can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. However, there are steps you can take to keep your RV cool so you and your family can more fully enjoy your adventures.

Find the Best Parking

Where you park your RV matters when it comes to controlling the temperature inside of the vehicle. To reduce the amount of sun rays beaming down on your RV, try to park in shady areas.

Another way to reduce the sun's effect is to park the side of the RV with the least window exposure on the side where the sun is shining. If you have an awning on that side, open it up to add to your protection from the sun.

Add to the Ventilation

One of the most important keys to reducing the heat in your RV is to add more ventilation. Heat can quickly accumulate in the RV and not only raise the temperature, but also impact the furnishings.

You can add more ventilation in a number of ways. One way you can add ventilation is by installing a vent cover over the roof vents on the RV. The vent covers help to promote cool air flow throughout the RV.

Cover Your Windows

The windows in your RV can be great to look out of, but they also allow heat into the vehicle. Covering the windows with curtains can help keep the sun out. Look for specially designed curtains that offer additional protection from the sun.

Once you are at the campsite, you can rely on your awning or even a tarp to keep the sun at bay. Tarps are a relatively inexpensive option that you can tie to trees near your RV in an awning-like fashion. If you do use tarps, you have the added advantage of a space outside the RV that is also cool.

Switch to Solar Lights

Since you are in smaller quarters, the heat from a light bulb can greatly impact how cool it is in your RV. If you switch to solar lights instead, you can reduce the amount of heat in your RV.

The solar lights can be charged up during the daylight hours by simply placing them outside. At night, you can bring them in and use them without worrying about heat flowing from them.

Consult with an RV dealer like Orangewood RV Center to determine if there are other ways you can keep your vehicle cool. There might be special features that you can add to your vehicle and use to stay cool.
